In this connection. I am to
invite reference to the letter of the
13th of April from the Committee of
(20)
Imperial Defence, enclosing an extract
from the minutes of the 225th Meeting
of the Committee, from which it will be
seen that, after deciding that the
acquisition
immediate accession of the Kai Tak site
for an aerodrome was most desirable for
reasons of Imperial defence, the Committee
agreed that the question of providing
the necessary funds was one for the
Treasury and other Government departments
concerned to deal with. Mr. Amery
is of opinion
des that, before the Treasury is
approached on the matter, it would be of
advantage for the question of the provision
of funds to be discussed between representa-
tives of the Air Ministry and the Colonial
Office. I am to suggest, therefore, that
a Conference should be held at the Colonial
Office at
3fm on
onthe
16th May 20
